July 18 is a day of introduction to Continuum, in which the basic values, principles and practices will be shared. This isa requirement for all those new to the practice. Times:
July 19-21- The three-day workshop will begin July 19 at …….
Continuum is a movement practice that explores the body as a fluid system. From the formation of galaxies to the pulsing cells of the human body, all life forms have been shaped by the spiraling movement of water.
If you are longing for a practice that supports a sense of vitality and restoration, the body is always modeling a creative process of renewal. In the practice of Continuum, we learn a universal language of biologically based movement incorporating breath and sounding practices to initiate personal movement explorations. As we expand our perceptual capacity and deepen our sensory awareness of the silent realm within, we gain the experience of moving with an underlying unity and unfolding mystery of life. The nature of the body becomes a resource we learn to trust as we reclaim our birthright of fluid potential.
The benefit of engaging in Continuum Movement is usually one of profound restoration and renewal. Many who participate express the delight of finding a way through Continuum to offer self-care and a type of supportive bodywork to themselves.
This practice is appropriate and safe for everyone at all movement levels. The program investigates how the evolving flow of the body informs and benefits other movement practices, including shiatsu, massage, yoga, dance—and life itself.

Continuum and the Choreographic Process
July 22- 23
Taught by Robin Becker
All creative processes offer us the challenge of learning to recognize and welcome that which is unknown. In many ways, each one of us approach our lives as a creative artist. As we create, we practice the art of presence, developing the ability to say yes to each emerging moment of life. Continuum offers a methodology through which we learn to be receptive to new and unfamiliar patterns moving through us. Come discover and experiment with the basic principles of Continuum, and how they can shape, inspire and inform your expression and your choreographic process.
Robin Becker has been exploring the relationship of Continuum and Dance for the past 30 years. Continuum has been a deeply nourishing and important foundation in her work as a choreographer, and it has forever changed her understanding of the human body and what it is able to express. In this workshop, we will explore some of the methods Robin uses as she works with dancers to develop choreography:
- the relationship of imagination and image to body function and expression
- the role of creative play and dialogue in all learning processes
- how context shapes the Creative possibilities and outcomes of all creative processes
“Continuum grounds me in the sensation of my body and has opened me to an enormous resource for discovery of movement. I have developed a greater trust in the presence of movement. As a choreographer, I no longer feel the terror of needing to ‘invent’ movement. Instead, I join with the movement that is always occurring and become interested in how to shape, vary, and develop the texture and rhythm of my own movement flow. I am then able to do the primary work of choreography, which is to make choices about movement that serve the larger vision of the work.” —-Robin Becker, Artistic Director
